Please note the St. Peter Ad vincula Combe Martin will not be opening on Sunday 28th June 2020.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
A letter from Rev. Peter
It’s my joy to write to you to let you know the details of the church buildings opening for private prayer. Firstly the dates:
Pip and Jim’s Ilfracombe
St. Peter ad Vincula Combe Martin.
At this time St. Peter’s Berrynarbor is unable to open, but will do as soon as we can do so safely. Please be aware that as government advice changes, and as circumstances arise, we may need to edit these times. Please note, for example, that St. Peter’s Combe Martin will be closed on the 28th June. If you want to access a church building on times outside of these there are various other church buildings opening in the local area.
When you enter the church buildings you will notice a few differences. As you enter please clean your hands with the alcohol gel provided. Please follow the arrows to a seat (marked 2 metres apart) where you can sit and pray. You can stay as long as long as you’d like during the opening hours. Once you are ready to leave, please follow the arrows to the exit and use the alcohol gel by the exit (note this is a different door to the one you entered). Please note that for hygiene reasons the toilets will not be available for use, nor will any refreshments be made available to you. When you come to pray you may like to bring your own bible and/or prayer resources too. At the entrance you will find QR codes linking to helpful resources, or you can access them via these website addresses:

I also want to clarify that private prayer is the only reason the buildings can be used at this time. All church services are still online or by telephone only, and tourist visits are not currently allowed. Baptisms/Christenings and weddings are also unfortunately still unable to go ahead.
I’d like to give my personal thanks to the PCCs for acting quickly to enable this to happen, and the amazing team of people who have worked flat-out to make our buildings safe for us to access and use for prayer. This is a dedication that speaks to the love of Christ to our community. To keep this going we are looking for more volunteers to be present to help ensure the comfort and well-being of people using the church buildings for prayer. If this is you, or you’d like to know more, please contact me.
Pip and Jim’s car park will also be re-opening on the 4th July. Please do make the most of this resource. There will be a few differences in place including contactless payments to help with your safety and the safety of those serving you.
All the services and events that I wrote to you about in the last letter are still all happening. If you need reminding of these please see on the website or contact me.
Please keep looking on our website for the latest information as it happens:
Pleased be assured of my prayers for you at this time, and I look forward to seeing you all as soon as we can do so safely. Until then do keep praying and witnessing to the good news of Jesus in whatever situation He has placed you.
Yours in Christ,
